New Study Says Prebiotics Aid Weight Loss

A clinical study recently completed at the University of Calgary suggests that prebiotics aid weight loss. "Oligofructose supplementation has the potential to promote weight loss and improve glucose regulation in overweight adults." says the study's conclusion.

Overweight adults eating an oligofructose supplemented diet lost an average 1kg over 12 weeks, while the non-supplemented subjects actually gained weight. The research resulted from a double-blind controlled study.

According to the study, prebiotic fiber enhances weight loss by both increasing the feeling of satiety and by reducing energy intake during the digestive process.
